After-school academic support

The issue

Academic attainment is affected by background. Children and young people who are less advantaged in terms of family income, education and experience achieve less than more advantaged peers of similar ability.

Our solution

Primary and secondary students will attend Nottingham Potential centres for after-school support, delivered in partnership with London-based charity IntoUniversity. Tutors will help with literacy and numeracy, and offer activities to enhance learning in other subjects. Secondary school students will also receive one-to-one support with choosing GCSE options and A-levels, coursework, exam preparation, careers advice and applying for university.

Our impact

Our after-school academic support will enhance the academic performance of its students. A total of 89% of IntoUniversity primary school participants exceed the national average in English, whilst 80% are above the national average in maths. Nottingham Potential will allow many more students to benefit.
