The University of Nottingham

Study abroad programme

This page is for incoming students who wish to come to the University of Nottingham through the study abroad programme. If you are a current Nottingham student and wish to study abroad as part of your Nottingham degree, please click here to find out about study abroad opportunities.

The Study Abroad Programme is designed for undergraduate university students to spend a period of time studying at the Univeristy of Nottingham, earning credit to transfer back to their home institution. Nottingham is committed to providing a personalised, academically focused experience. Courses are available across most disciplines and are part of the regular undergraduate curriculum enabling Study Abroad students to study alongside home students.

Study Abroad tuition fees are confirmed on the application form. Only study abroad students pay tuition fees to the University of Nottingham; exchange students are exempt from paying tuition fees. Your tuition fees will be confirmed in your offer letter.

Students on the Study Abroad Programme are guaranteed university accommodation for the duration of their study period, provided that applications are returned by the deadline stated in the offer letter.

The International Office provides a focal point for all international students and there is a dedicated co–ordinator for Study Abroad students, who is responsible for students from the time of initial application to the moment students receive their final transcript. Each academic School also has a designated Study Abroad co–ordinator who provides advise on academic issues.

Any former Study Abroad student who chooses to return to the University of Nottingham to follow a full degree course is entitled to a scholarship.

How to apply
There are two routes into the Study Abroad Programme: a direct entry into academic schools for native English language speakers and a pre–sessional English language course prior to the period of academic study for students for whom English is not their first language. The Pre-Sessional English Language course is offered by our Centre for English Language Education (CELE). Any queries about the pre-sessional course should be directed to CELE. All students should apply initially through the International Office.

If you have any further questions please contact the Study Abroad Team.
