Entry requirements

Academic requirements

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Bangladesh for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

Foundation

Students who have taken Intermediate/Higher Education Secondary School Examinations (Year 12) are usually required to take a foundation course.

Students are required to achieve an overall First Division Pass (60%+), including at least 60% in relevant subjects - for example: Maths and Physics for the Engineering Foundation.

Undergraduate

Students who have taken Intermediate/Higher Education Secondary School Examinations (Year 12) are usually required to take a foundation course.

Students with three or four year bachelor degrees awarded from recognised institutions may be considered for entry to undergraduate programmes at year one or two respectively.

Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.

Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

Masters

Students must have completed a relevant Masters degree from recognised university and are required to have graduated with a first division pass or 3.2/4.0 or 60%

Students with a 4 year Bachelors degree from selected institutions can apply for entry onto our Masters programmes. In this case, typical requirements can range from 64% or a 3.49/ 4.0 CGPA, to 60% or 3.2/4.0 CGPA for less competitive courses. Please contact your International Officer for more information.
Students who have completed a 2 or 3 year Bachelors degree are also required to hold a Masters degree with between 69% or 3.59/ 4.0 CGPA, to 60% or 3.2/4.0 CGPA for less competitive courses.

PhD & research

PhD applicants are normally required to hold a Masters degree, following a 4 year Bachelors degree from selected institutions.

Typical minimum requirements from Bangladesh universities are a first division pass, a grade over 60% or a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.

For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.

English language requirements

To study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. In addition to the more common language qualifications - such as IELTS, TOEFL, (I)GCSE, O level, IB and A and AS level English - the University also considers a number of other English language qualifications for admission.

English language courses

Our Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers a range of English language courses.

These courses are designed to prepare international students with the required language skills for academic study at The University of Nottingham.
