Entry requirements

Academic requirements

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Czech Republic for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

Foundation

Applicants from the Czech Republic are normally not required to complete a foundation course.

Undergraduate

The Maturitni Zkouška / Maturita with an overall average grade of at least 2 for the most competitive courses and 3 for the least competitive courses.

Some courses may specify certain grades (from at least 2 or 3) for certain subjects.

A typical Maturitni Zkouška/Maturita requirement for a course with a BBB A level entry requirement is an overall average grade of 3.

Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.

Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

Masters

A bakalár or bachelor degree or higher qualification from a recognised university will be considered for masters entry.

Typical minimum requirements from Czech universities are an average grade of at least 2.5 to 1.5, depending on the course applied for.

PhD & research

A magister / masters and bakalár / bachelors degree from a recognised university are usually required for PhD entry.

Exceptional students may be considered for PhD entry without a masters qualification.

Typical minimum requirements from Czech universities are an average grade of at least 2.5 to 1.5 depending on the course applied for.

For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.

English language requirements

To study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. In addition to the more common language qualifications - such as IELTS, TOEFL, (I)GCSE, O level, IB and A and AS level English - the University also considers a number of other English language qualifications for admission.

Our Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers a range of English language courses.

These coures are designed to prepare international students wsith the required language skills for academic study at The University of Nottingham.
