Entry requirements

Academic requirements

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Mexico for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

Foundation  

Students completing the following qualifications in Mexico are typically required to complete a foundation course:

  • Preparatoria 
  • Bachillerato

An average of 7 or 70% is typically required for admission.

Undergraduate   

Applicants from Mexico are typically required to successfully complete a foundation programme.

Students who have successfully completed the first year at a recognised University may be exempt from Foundation programme and considered for admissions to year 1 of the Bachelors degree, if relevant subjects have been studied and strong grades achieved - minimum grades of 7 (70) or 8 (80).

 A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.

Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

Masters

A Licenciatura, Ingeniería or Título Profesional (Bachelors degree standard) from a recognised University will be considered for Masters entry.

Typical minimum GPA requirements from Mexican universities are GPA 7 or 70% (equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree) to 8 or 80% (equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree). Grading on a 1-10 or 1-100 scale.

PhD & research

A master's (maestria) and bachelor's degree from a recognised University are usually required for PhD entry.

Typical minimum GPA requirements from Mexican universities are GPA 7 or 70% (equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree) to 8 or 80% (equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree). Grading on a 1-10 or 1-100 scale.

For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.

English language requirements

To study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. In addition to the more common language qualifications - such as IELTS, TOEFL, (I)GCSE, O level, IB and A and AS level English - the University also considers a number of other English language qualifications for admission.

English language courses

Our Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers a range of English language courses.

These courses are designed to prepare international students with the required language skills for academic study at The University of Nottingham.
