If your application to The University of Nottingham is successful, you will receive an offer of study.
There are two main types of offer:
A conditional offer enables you to study at Nottingham if you meet certain conditions. In some cases your offer may be conditional on achieving a certain grade in a subject, or a specific English Language score.
An unconditional offer means that you have met all the academic requirements set by the University and you will be able to accept your place at Nottingham straight away. However, you will need to provide proof of your qualifications.
Full details of your offer will be explained in the offer letter sent to you by the University.
The best way of keeping track of your offer (and your application) is by using the UCAS Track service, and by regularly checking the University's online Applicants' Portal for important updates and deadlines.
Please remember that you must have received an offer to study at The University of Nottingham before you can apply for:
If you receive a conditional offer for a foundation course, you will be sent a letter of acceptance and an offer acceptance form. You will need to return the form along with the documents required by the deadline on the letter.
Once you have returned your documents to prove that you have met the conditions, you will be sent an unconditional offer.
If you receive a conditional offer to take part in our Study Abroad , International Exchange or Universitas 21 programmes, you will need to provide the International Office with proof that you have met all of the entry requirements before your offer can be made unconditional.
Once you have received an unconditional offer, you will be sent a welcome email confirming your student ID number.
The usual offer system does not apply to our Erasmus or our Malaysia and China Inter-Campus Exchange programmes.
Once you have been accepted on to either of these programmes, you will be sent a welcome email confirming your student ID number.
Applicants for undergraduate courses will be notified of their offers through UCAS.
The easiest way to formally accept your offer is by using the online UCAS Track service. The UCAS website explains how to accept an offer, and what to expect during the application process.
Applicants for postgraduate courses can accept their offer online using the Applicants' Portal.
If you have a conditional offer, you will need to provide the University with proof that you have met all of the conditions in full. Once you have done this, your offer will become unconditional.
You can firmly accept your offer at any point (some courses require deposits for firm acceptance). Please note that the University asks most postgraduate taught offer holders to pay a deposit before a CAS can be released. Some courses have different arrangements and you will be able to view which regulations apply to you in your Applicants' Portal account. Masters students may need to pay a tuition fee deposit. See our Frequently Asked Questions on Deposits (pdf ) for more information.
