Before you leave...

Before you leave your home country to study as an international student at The University of Nottingham, there are a number of things you must ensure you have done:

• formally notify the University that you have accepted your place
• make your advance tuition fee payment if required
• make accommodation arrangements
• confirm your financial arrangements to cover tuition and living costs
• apply for your visa. See our visa and immigration pages for more information. 
• book a place on the Welcome Programme (if applicable)
• book a place on the coach pick-up service (if applicable)
• get any relevant travel vaccinations. For more information, see our guide Using health services in the UK

Carry in your hand luggage...

On your departure from your home country to the UK, please ensure you have these items in your hand luggage:

• passport and visa
• flight tickets and any other travel documents
• University documents
• cash or travellers cheques or debit/credit cards
• evidence of financial support for fees and maintenance
• evidence of TB screening if this was required as part of your visa process
• travel insurance
• six passport-sized photos for registration with different services
• accommodation details
• Welcome Programme and coach pick-up reservation (if applicable)
• some warm clothes  - it may be much cooler in the UK than at home
