All staff and students with a University IT account have access to filestore, email and the Intranet Portal. There are three types of accounts available:
Staff and students can also access various University systems and associated facilities depending on their role.
Associate account holders do not have access to all University systems. A limited number of systems and facilities may be requested for use by temporary staff, students and visitors, depending on their role.
Passwords for all accounts are valid for 180 days to ensure data security. IT account holders can manage their own password using Password management.
Staff IT accounts (other than for 'casual' staff) are automatically created for all members of staff in the University's Human Resources (HR) system. Generally this includes professional services staff, administrators, teaching related staff and research related staff.
To activate your IT account you will need your Employee ID, Surname and Date of birth. If you do not know your Employee ID please contact local IT Support team or, the local departmental IT Representative.
Staff have an IT account for as long as they are employed by the University. This will be disabled on their official leave date.
A University student IT account will be automatically issued as part of the online University Registration process.
Students not included in online registration will be issued with an alternative online method of setting up an IT account by their School.
If there are any problems with either process please contact the IT Helpline.
These accounts are valid for as long as the student is continuing their studies at the University and are disabled three months after their official leave date in the University’s student record system.
Associate access can be applied for on behalf of anyone needing access to the University's IT services, who is not registered in the HR System (excluding 'casual' staff) or the Students Record System.
As an Associate you will need a University Sponsor (this can be anyone within the University) to complete an Associate application on your behalf. This must be approved by the School or Departmental manager of the School or Department your association is linked to.
The Associate application process will enable you to access a limited number of services based on your needs and your associated role within the University.
