How can NHS staff use the library?
You must be registered with the University to use our libraries.
You can register at the Greenfield Medical Library lending desk between 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. You will need your NUH/NHS or Trust ID card. Membership is renewed before 31 December each year.
You can borrow up to 12 items at any one time from any of the University's libraries.
NHS staff working in GP Surgeries are welcome to register as external borrowers and use the reservation system and enquiry service.
What electronic resources are available?
The NHS Electronic Resources Room has six PCs which have access to the internet and Microsoft Office software. NUH staff will need to have a Trust username and password to logon. NHS staff with an ATHENS username can access several health related databases via Search 2.0. For training on these databases, please contact Elizabeth Hendron.
The University of Nottingham also provides NHS staff with access to a number of freely available information resources via the eLibrary Gateway. You can access these through the 'NHS link' on the login screen. These resources can be accessed from any PC linked to the internet.
The Walk-in User Service also provides an additional 12,000 ejournals and 400,000 eBooks available for NHS staff and visitors to use. You will need to register at the lending desk before using this service.
How do I set up an NHS Athens account?
All NHS staff employed by the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust can self-register for an NHS Athens account. Your NHS details will be verified and your account activated more quickly if you register on an NHS PC.
Book Requests
The library will purchase books in support of your clinical work and patient care. Suggestions can be emailed to the Greenfield Medical Library helpline.
Can I request material not available in the library?
NHS staff working for NUH NHS Trust, City and QMC campuses may make up to 10 Inter Library Loan requests per year at £2.50 each. These requests can be submitted using the Library Online Catalogue.
What support and advice is available?
Library faculty teams have subject specific knowledge and are available to advise users on the availability of resources and information retrieval tools. We promote new books and discuss recent developments and library news through our subject blogs .[ University of Nottingham access only]

Who can I contact for help?
There is an enquiry service point in Greenfield Medical Library next to the lending desk and your library faculty team is in room A25 in the corridor opposite the multi-functional devices.
