Office 2007 - Add-ins

Save as PDF

If you wish to save documents as PDFs please follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Start > Run then enter NAL in the box and click OK
  2. Expand the Software Installation folder
  3. Click on the Essential add-in Tools folder to display icons in right-hand pane
  4. Double click the Office 2007 Save-as-PDF icon
  5. Once installed open Word. To use this tool click on the Office Button> Save as. You will then see the option to save as PDF or XPS

The University standard full PDF converter and editing package is PDF Convertor Pro 5 and is part of the standard software installed on all new PCs. If you wish to install this:

  1. Go to Start > Run then enter NAL in the box and click OK
  2. Expand the Software Installation folder
  3. Click on the Essential add-in Tools folder to display icons in right-hand pane
  4. Double click the PDF Convertor Pro 5 Install
  5. Once installed open Word. You will find PDF Convertor Pro 5 on the ribbon under Add-Ins

Save as DAISY XML to make reading easier for learners with visual impairments

The free Word Add-In has now been released, and adds a “Save as DAISY XML” option to the Word menu.

DAISY stands for Digital Accessible Information System, which lets you work with digital content in many ways, synchronising audio with display output, generating braille versions, or allowing text to speech conversion.
