Prospective students

Our postgraduate community is a central and vibrant part of the Institute. Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds in natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities.

We offer research degrees in our interdisciplinary programme in Science and Technology Studies which is recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for 1+3 (one year research training masters degree plus a three year PhD) and +3 (PhD) studentship applications. Full and part-time options are available.

Many of our Masters students go on to study with us for a PhD. All of our academic staff are actively interested in supervising research students and available to discuss potential projects. A second supervisor may be appointed from another School. Currently we work jointly with supervisors from Biology, Business, Community Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Geography, Sociology, Politics, Law and Psychiatry.
