Description
A new research programme examining the changing landscape of occupational health and safety regulation in the UK starts today. The 2-year research programme has been funded by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and aims at achieving the right balance in occupational health and safety policy and practice.

Description
Jonathan Houdmont and his PhD student Paul Madgwick have been awarded funding from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. The £40,000 grant concerns the development and evaluation of a sun safety intervention to encourage construction workers in the UK to adopt sun safety measures when working outdoors.

The Institute has just announced that 10 scholarships to contribute towards the cost of MSc fees will be awarded to students starting in September 2011. Successful applicants come from the UK, China, Trinidad & Tobago, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Nigel Hunt's book, co-authored with Sue McHale, entitled 'Understanding Traumatic Stress' has been shortlisted for a book prize at the Medical Journalists' Association (MJA) 2011 Open Book Awards. Nigel is Associate Professor of Health Psychology in the Institute and specialises in recovery from trauma.
