IWHO's Dr Stavroula Leka and Dr Aditya Jain from Business School awarded £196,000 for new research programme

A new research programme examining the changing landscape of occupational health and safety regulation in the UK starts today. The 2-year research programme has been funded by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and aims at achieving the right balance in occupational health and safety policy and practice.

This policy oriented research programme will investigate sources of authority in the changing OSH landscape or ‘risk landscape’ in the UK and whether the different actors involved are granted space to devise locally relevant strategies for achieving OSH goals. It will also explore constraints faced in this process (and their sources) that need to be managed in local OSH systems within the changing industrial structure.

Key issues to be considered will be addressing the needs of SMEs and the role of health and safety professionals in the changing OSH landscape. A series of interviews, case study analyses and workshops with key stakeholders and experts will take place throughout the research. For more information, please contact Dr Stavroula Leka (IWHO) (Stavroula.Leka@nottingham.ac.uk) or Dr Aditya Jain (Nottingham University Business School) (Aditya.Jain@nottingham.ac.uk).
