Induction Events
International staff induction events are organised 2 or 3 times a year. As a recently arrived member of international staff, you will be invited to attend the next available induction event by Human Resources.
This event will give you the opportunity to:

-
Compare a few of the learning and teaching conventions within UK Higher Education with home culture conventions.
-
Understand the organisation of Research in the UK and at Nottingham
-
Discuss the new International Staff Mentoring Scheme
-
Give feedback to the University about experiences of arrival, and identify support and information systems which would have made this easier
The programme is as follows:
-

-
The “international agenda” and the importance of international staff to the University.
-
Living in the UK. An opportunity to explore some of the key features of UK culture and some practical advice about living and settling in the UK.
-

-
Teaching in the UK. A short guide to the learning and teaching conventions in UK Higher Education.

As well as the International Staff Induction Event there are Welcome Events organised 3 times a year for all new staff and an Induction workspace. Additionally, you should have an induction to your School/area of work; this will be arranged for you by your manager.
