Hannah's story
I’ve been here since July 2009, previously I worked in the marketing dept of an international company, but I was fed up being stuck behind a desk. So I fancied a career change. When I saw this job advertised I thought it was perfect for me. You see I love sport, but I also love helping people.
I find it a really interesting role because I get to meet so many different people from the University and also from sports organisations. But the best thing about my job is meeting students, organising events and helping people. For instance, I arranged a sitting volleyball event in November 2009, loads of people attended and took part – we even got our two Assistant Directors involved, which was funny to see.
I am also working with the Athletic Union on a new event called ‘Any-Body Month’ which is a disability awareness event where we put on taster sessions of various different sports and try to engage with students, staff and members of the local community, both disabled and non-disabled, to give them a go at sports like wheelchair rugby or aqua fit.
It’s having the autonomy to do things like ‘Any-Body Month’ that I really enjoy. And the friendly atmosphere, the perks, the people, the family orientated feel, oh and not being behind a desk.
