I work in the HR Policy and Projects Team. I am involved in all kinds of things varying from working with diversity groups to writing guidance on disability. I’ve also been involved in writing the staff handbook and contributing to our staff intranet.
We do lots of work around performance management and I make sure that Equality & Diversity is part of it. Then there’s our work on policies like maternity and family-friendly working, which are particularly pertinent to me as I’ve recently been lucky enough to have a little boy of my own.
When I had my baby the University was so supportive, I hadn’t worked there for long and I was nervous about telling my manager. I needn’t have been... they were really flexible about my maternity appointments and they genuinely cared about my well-being. They are very family-friendly.
