The J C Smith Scholarship Fund was set up in 2003 in memory of Professor Sir John Smith. Sir John had been associated with the School of Law since 1950 and was appointed as Professor of Law in 1957.
Sir John was knighted in 1993 for his services to academic law and was widely recognised as making a huge contribution to the development of Criminal Law.
The Fund is being used to fund widening participation scholarships in the School of Law.
