LLMCriminalJustice

This module provides a critical introduction to comparative criminal justice, with an emphasis on issues, problems, underlying principles and socio-legal perspectives.

While Anglo-American materials will predominate, frequent use will also be made of English language accounts of the criminal process in other major western and some non-western jurisdictions, with further references to international norms, especially the criminal process dimensions of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Because the objective is to compare ideas, problems and practices, rather than formal legal systems, the focus is on issues that cut across national legal boundaries to expose and explore the foundational issues of contemporary criminal justice.
