Class of 2010/11
I began my LLM in International Commercial Law with the intention of furthering my commercial awareness. Initially, I was impressed with the broad array of commercial orientated modules which were on offer. I studied a range of subjects including trade finance, insolvency, international corporate law and the regulation of banking. In this respect, the knowledge I acquired was comprehensive which became very useful when applying for jobs. This combination of subjects made me realize where my interests lie. To compliment this I completed my dissertation on restructuring failing banks, which I found highly interesting especially considering the current financial climate.
The modules offered and knowledge I gained during my time studying the LLM at the University of Nottingham had a direct influence on my employment prospects. It was studying the LLM which gave me the opportunity to start at Citigroup in investment banking only one week after handing my dissertation in.
