ILA British Branch Regional Seminar Series

Annually, the International Law Association (British Branch) hosts a series of regional seminars which take place in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Oxford, London and Nottingham. These seminars are intended to broaden and sustain interest in private and public international law within United Kingdom and, since January 1996, the School of Law at Nottingham has been proud to participate in this series.

Attracting some of the world's most pre-eminent lawyers to the campus, such as H E Judges Rosalyn Higgins and Bruno E Simma (International Court of Justice), Professor Martti Koskenniemi (Helsinki), Professor Karen Knop (Toronto), Professor Ellen Hey (Rotterdam), this series is a further demonstration of the School's long-standing and significant commitment to the teaching and research of international law.

The calendar list of seminars is announced in the autumn of each year, and presents an opportunity for visiting speakers to visit Nottingham to present and discuss aspects of their current or published work. Each seminar usually involves a presentation of between 40 to 50 minutes, and this is followed by a chaired discussion of between 30 and 40 minutes.

The seminars thus form a dynamic aspect of the study of international law at Nottingham, and have become a popular part of the extracurricular calendar of both postgraduate taught and research programmes. The seminars are the responsibility of Dino Kritsiotis.
