Jaws

What is it and what does it do?

Jaws is a screen reader. It is designed for people who cannot navigate around a screen using sight. It uses keyboard shortcuts to operate as opposed to mouse clicks and reads all text aloud.

Licensing

Jaws is available in the Assistive Technology Room (ATR) in:

Students wishing to use this room have to be eligible for the Enhanced Library Support Service and referred by Academic or Disability Support.

Disabled students who wish to have their own copy of Jaws should contact Academic or Disability Support in the first instance.

Tutorials for Jaws including keystrokes and Quick Start Guides can be found on the Freedom Scientific website.

Help

Support is available from local library staff.
