Current Research

Research Interests Research interests include the role of the gankyrin oncoprotein in hepatocellular carcinogenesis; the roll of ubiquitin-protein ligase enzymes (E3s) in cell biology particularly the NEDD4-family of E3s within intracellular protein trafficking, signalling and the identification of potential substrates thereof; ubiquitin-like proteins. Techniques • Protein-protein interaction analysis - two-hybrid screening and analysis via 'classical' and SOS/ras yeast and bacterial systems, co-immunoprecipitation, fluorescence microscopy • Cell tissue culture • General molecular biology - PCR, in vitro mutagenesis, cloning etc • Recombinant protein expression via bacterial and Pichia pastoris systems • Reporter gene analysis
