Research projects

We offer both funded and self-funded options for students wishing to study postgraduate research in the school. Our postgraduate research opportunities encompass the school's research interests and strengths and align to our research themes. You will receive expert supervision from academic staff who conduct internationally-recognised research and are leaders in their field.

Additional vacancies are available throughout the year, with September to December being the most likely time to find the greatest range of funded studentships.

Funded vacancies are funded by UK Research Councils, charities and industry and certain eligibility conditions may apply, which limit these studentships to UK/EU citizens ordinarily resident in the UK only.

View our current research project vacancies by choosing one of the following options:

EU/UK funded PhD projects

Funded by research councils, charities and industry, these
studentships cover tuition fees and, for most UK and some EU students, provide more than £14,000 per year towards living expenses.

Sponsored or self-funded PhD projects

Research opportunities for international students or for EU/UK students who are able to meet the cost of their own fees and living expenses.
