Over 1.4 billion people cook on an open fire with no access to electricity and many more have only unreliable access.
 


Conference Aims

This conference invited presentations that discuss technology, mass manufacturing or the social context associated with the supply of electricity to rural areas using heat engines (Photo-Voltaic implementations are excluded from this call, but other solar technologies are eligible).

Attendees

Over 40 people from 5 continents attended the conference which was judged a great success. The £100 Chasetead prize for best presentation was awarded to Professor Wei Dai of the Chinese academy of Science by Dr Joe Jamieson of Alstom Limited, Rugby UK.
