Nottingham Park Estate archive
The archive of the Nottingham Park Estate was transferred in 1994 to Nottingham University Library from Oxford University, which had owned the Estate from 1939 to 1986. The records are primarily concerned with the period of Oxford’s administration of the Estate, but include some documents dating back to the time when it belonged to the Dukes of Newcastle.
A generous grant from the Nottingham Park Trustees supported the detailed cataloguing of the archive, and the encapsulation of some of its most fragile maps and plans. Further details about the history of the Park Estate, the background to the archive, and a summary of the contents are to be found online in the collection level description on the Manuscripts Online Catalogue.
An exhibition about Nottingham Park drawing on the archive was on view in the University's Weston Gallery during the latter part of 2002. Selected items from this display are now available online.
