Biography of Anthony Eyre (1634-1671)

Anthony was the only son of Sir Gervase Eyre (d 1645) of Rampton, Nottinghamshire.

He possibly studied at the Inner Temple in the 1650s. He was awarded a M.A. from Oxford University in 1663.

He was M.P. for Nottinghamshire from 1661 to 1671.

His estates were inherited by his son Gervase.  

Family

He married 1stly in 1657 Lucy (d 1659), daughter of Sir John Digby of Mansfield Woodhouse, and had:

  • Robert (1655-1660)
  • Elizabeth

He married 2ndly Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Packington, Baronet, of Westwood, Worcestershire, and had:

  • Gervase (1669-1704)
  • Anthony (1671-1672)
  • Dorothy, m in 1680 John Bradshaw Esq.
  • Mary
  • Margaret (b 1667)
