Biography of Thomas Blackborne Thoroton Hildyard (1843-1928)

Thomas was the eldest son of Thomas Blackborne Thoroton Hildyard (1821-1888) of Flintham Hall. The house was let out to tenants when he inherited the Flintham and Screveton estate, but Thomas moved back in 1895 and spent much of his life paying off mortgages. He sold the bulk of the Screveton estate for £36,833 in 1918. Thomas served as a J.P. for Nottinghamshire.

Family

Thomas Blackborne Thoroton Hildyard married Eleanor Herbert (-1907), daughter of the Rt Hon. Henry Herbert of Muckross, co. Kerry, but had no children.
