Using contemporary records, pictures and interviews, Dr Tania McIntosh, principal curator of “Mothers and Midwives”, explores the changing experience of birth in the twentieth century and the reasons why it became a medical rather than domestic event.
This lunchtime talk is one of a series of events relating to the "Mothers and Midwives" exhibition. Talks are held at the D H Lawrence Pavilion and organized by Manuscripts and Special Collections.
