UK Multiscale Biology Network - Springboard Meeting

Date(s)
Monday 1st June 2015 (10:00-16:30)
Description

The BBSRC has recently funded the UK Multiscale Biology network, motivated by BBSRC strategic discussions which identified ‘Multi-Scale Biology’ (MSB) as a key area of research and capability that will be at the forefront of bioscience research over the next 5-10 years. The network will aim to:

  • facilitate the exploitation of areas of synergy between researchers across the UK in the broad area of multi-scale biology (MSB);
  • raise awareness of the benefits of MSB;
  • identify areas that are most ready for MSB and horizon scan for emerging areas;
  • and explore opportunities for MSB collaboration within Europe and further afield.

Confirmed keynote speakers for the Springboard Meeting are:

James Briscoe (Crick Institute) - Neural tube development, organisation from the cellular to the tissue scale

Carole Goble (Manchester) - Data intensive in silico science, data and model management for Systems Biology

There will be a selection of shorter invited talks, discussion sessions to set the agenda for future MSB Network activities, and an opportunity to present posters.

Start: 10am refreshments for first session at 10:30

Close: 4:30pm

Refreshments and lunch will be provided. There is no registration fee, and the MSB Network can provide a contribution to travel costs of up to £50 each for up to 40 attendees.
