A hat-trick for mathematical sciences in Vice-Chancellor's medals

A combination of current and former mathematical sciences students were recognised for their achievements in this year’s Vice Chancellor’s Medals. The medal is awarded for exceptional achievement by staff or students at the University.

Maddy Ellis is currently a PhD student with Horizon, Computer Science following completion of her BSc Mathematics in 2016. She was awarded the medal in recognition for founding the Nottingham Night Owls - a service which provides assistance to vulnerable students by reducing the number of students walking home after nights out. The service also recovers and returns lost property found around the city centre

Daniel Slater a current PhD student was recognised for his role in being a founding member of the futsal club, one of the University’s most successful sport set ups. Alongside his studies for his BSc, MSc and now his PhD, Dan’s dedication to futsal is unquestionable, having devoted countless hours over the last 6 years.

Dr Miroslava Johanesova Academic and Disability Support Worker, Student Services also received a medal. Her work in providing exceptional mentoring and study assist support to both home and international disabled students has been invaluable to the academic and personal progression of these individuals. Dr Johanesova completed her PhD within the School of Mathematical Sciences in 2016.

We offer our congratulations to Maddy, Daniel and Miroslava on being awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Medal which they received at the ceremony on 6th July 2017.
