Biography

Manjula Nugawela graduated with an Honours degree in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, before completing her MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health and her PhD is about the use of existing data sources to evaluate alcohol control policies and contextual factors affecting alcohol consumption.

Current Research

Manjula's research interests are in prevention of harms related to alcohol misuse in different settings and populations. Her current research is focused on identifying existing data sources for alcohol control policy evaluation purposes, and using appropriate data to evaluate national policies and contextual factors affecting alcohol consumption. The majority of her work involves in managing and analysing quantitative data, from a wide variety of data sources such as national survey data and primary care record databases.
