Division of Psychiatry and Applied Psychology

Who we are

We are an interdisciplinary group of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, forensic psychologists, neuropsychologists, occupational psychologists and health psychologists based within the Institute of Mental Health and enjoying close links with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

What we do

From Professor Cris Glazebrook, Head of Division:

Within an energetic and collaborative environment we carry out internationally competitive and locally relevant applied research and deliver innovative teaching at undergraduate, Masters and doctoral level.

We conduct high quality research that enhances our understanding of the causes, mechanisms and treatment of mental disorder and criminal offending across the lifespan; promotes individual and organisational health and wellbeing; and improves policies, systems and the delivery of services in order to achieve these goals.

In addition to our valuable contribution to the undergraduate medical course, we offer popular professional doctorates in clinical and forensic psychology and Masters degrees in mental health research, occupational psychology, workplace health and wellbeing, and criminological psychology.

We deliver excellent teaching on medical, forensic and neuroscience courses and provides a stimulating academic environment for PhD students.
