Biography

Dr Ellison gained his medical degree (BM BS) in 2006 at The University of Nottingham Medical School in 2006, having obtained his BMedSci(Hons) in 2004.

He completed the Foundation Programme and Core Psychiatry training in the East Midlands and gained a PGDip in Mental Health Studies in 2011.

He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2013 and joined the University of Nottingham as a Clinical Assistant Professor of General Adult Psychiatry & Medical Education in February 2014.

He continues his clinical training as a Honorary Specialty Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Research Summary

Dr Ellison supervises third year medical students undertaking BMedSci research projects.

Recent Publications

Dr Ellison's interests within medical education include assessment, course design and student support & remediation. His teaching interests include psychiatry, professionalism and communication skills and he convenes the second year 'Introduction to Psychiatry' optional module. He is involved in assessment at all levels of the undergraduate course and has acted as Lead Examiner for Clinical Phase 1 and Clinical Phase 3 examinations.

Future Research

Areas for future research include assessment, student support & remediation, and interdisciplinary training.
