Biography

Vincent Egan obtained a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Psychology from the University of London in 1984, A Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh in 1991, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Leicester in 1996 (at which time he became a Chartered Clinical Psychologist). In 2000 he became a Chartered Forensic Psychologist. Between 1987 and 1993 he was a Research Associate with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh. He has over 90 academic publications to his name, is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and is on the board of directors for the International Society for the Study of Individual Differences. He was previously employed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Central Nottinghamshire Health Service NHS Trust at the East Midlands Centre for Forensic Mental Health, where he worked as lead psychologist on a personality disorder unit for three years. He has written over 350 court reports. From January 2001 to August 2007 he was director of the MSc in Forensic Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he held a professorial position. In September 2007 he became Director of the MSc in the Assessment and Treatment of Sexual Offenders at Leicester University, then became course director of the accredited campus-based course in Forensic Psychology at the same university. He is now associate professor of forensic psychology practice in the Department of Psychiatry and Applied Psychology at the University of Nottingham, and continue to work with offenders via work with independent Solicitors.
