Research Summary

PhD Title: Bio-resorbable fracture fixation devices

Bioresorbable materials offer the potential of developing fracture fixation plates with similar mechanical properties to bone thereby minimizing stress shielding and obviating the need for implant removal.My research interest is to characterise the in vivo degradation profile of a novel phosphate glass fibre composite bioresorbable plate. The impetus is to aid the development of novel fracture fixation devices superior to current designs in clinical practice.
