Division of Midwifery

Our Partners

The Academic Division of Midwifery has links with 7 NHS Trusts as well as a variety of independent sector practice placements within our geographical region.

We work in partnership to enhance the quality of health care delivered to our patients and clients. Partnerships operate through a variety of networks, including:

  • practitioners, at a variety of levels, who contribute to the practice learning agenda on committees that address issues such as skills teaching and practice development issues
  • close liaison with the NHS Practice Learning Units and Education Committees to ensure we are developing effective practice strategies
  • development of new placements that reflect contemporary healthcare

Whilst ensuring excellent placement opportunities for our students, partnership working provides direct contact with current practitioners which in turn informs teaching and learning on our programmes.

The healthcare organisations include hospital NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, Prison Services, independent sector organisations, as well as clientele organisations such as the Winged Fellowship. Many of these organisations are renowned for innovation and excellence in nursing and midwifery practice.

Our students gain experience of a wide range of care patterns and benefit from the specialist expertise offered by each.
