AstraZeneca Student Prize

Rebeka Sultana, a second year PhD student in MOL has been been awarded the prestigious AstraZeneca Student Prize for 2011. This award has been given in recognition of her work on synthetic lethal targeting in cancer using human apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease (APE1) inhibitors. Dr. S Madhusudan, Head of Translational DNA Repair Group, who is Rebeka's PhD supervisor said: "This is a fantastic achievement and congratulations to Rebeka for the hard work. Translational Cancer Research at MOL and our Group's focus on DNA repair has huge potential for patient benefit". Rebeka has been invited to give an oral presentation at the forthcoming National Cancer Research Institute conference in Liverpool.
