University of Nottingham
Research Training

The School of Molecular Medical Sciences is committed to providing its postgraduate research (PGR) students with cutting-edge discipline-specific skills and knowledge, as well as essential and desirable generic and transferable skills. Importantly, the School recognises each student as an individual; an individual with specific baseline skills and knowledge, and, therefore, one with unique career aspirations and training requirements.

Our students are encouraged to regularly reflect on their skills and knowledge acquisition and review this with their supervisor during regular supervision meetings. Where a training need has been identified, every effort will be made to meet this, by way of participation on relevant training courses, workshops, “at-the-bench” instruction or placements.

Where possible, PhD students within the School also benefit from optional attendance at sessions or modules on offer as part of the School’s wide-ranging Masters-level taught postgraduate degree courses. Details of these courses can be found here.

More information about applying for a PhD can be found by visiting the University of Nottingham Careers and Employability website.
