Opera North Workshop 2009/10

The Music Department hosted a workshop on Mozart’s Così fan tutte in March 2010. The workshop engaged staff and students who worked with:

Caroline Clegg - Director
Charlotte Forrest - Repetiteur
Lisa Wilson, Annie Gill and Håkan Ekenäs - singers

The workshop was very practical─following some warm ups and introductory exercises, the group spent the morning exploring the plot and looking at the relationship between characterisation and the music of the opera. Participants were then able to apply this to directing the professional singers, and look at design concepts and production decisions. The afternoon focused on learning and performing a key section of the piece.
