Current Research
I am currently in the early stages of a PhD provisionally titled 'Mid-Fifteenth-Century English Mass Music in Continental Sources', supervised by Peter Wright and Philip Weller. As well as resolving issues of questionable provenance, I also hope to offer a context for the dissemination of English music and English compositional techniques through investigating possible routes of transmission between England and the continent.
Past Research
I have a strong interest in Fifteenth-Century English secular song. Supervised by Thorlac Turville-Petre in the School of English Studies, I produced a complete edition of the four surviving Fifteenth-Century English texted secular songs that can be found in continental sources with a full textual and musical commentary. This work also contributed to a paper given at a Post Graduate Open Day, entitled 'LInguistics and Composer Attribution: Critiquing an Interdisciplinary Method'. I have also edited the works of Roullet found within the St Emmeram Codex, supervised by Peter Wright, during my undergraduate studies.
