Performance

Performance activities at Nottingham are coordinated by Lakeside Arts Centre, the Music Department, and the three principal student music societies, MussocBlowsoc and Opsoc

Explore the menu links on the left to discover more about the wide range of musical activity in the Department.

Working with professional musicians

At Nottingham, our students get the opportunity to work with professional musicians who are invited to give lectures, workshops and coaching.

Lakeside Arts Centre

The Lakeside Arts Centre stages regular professional concerts and strongly supports the activities of the student music ensembles. Lakeside also administers the two largest ensembles, the University Philharmonia and University Choir.

Mussoc, Blowsoc and Opsoc

The thriving and energetic student-run music societies Mussoc, Blowsoc and Opsoc organise many of the Department's performing groups, as well as regular social events and an annual tour. There are also numerous opportunities to get involved with the running of the student music societies.

Facilities

The Djanogly Recital Hall (part of Lakeside Arts Centre and situated within the Music Department) is a first-class concert hall and the principal venue for chamber music on campus. We also have a purpose-built rehearsal hall, and a suite of 15 well-equipped practice rooms. For more details visit our facilities page.
