NIRVC is a forum for research in art-historical and visual culture studies, drawing on a range of disciplines, within and beyond the university. NIRVC was established in collaboration with the Djanogly Art Gallery, the Institute of Film Studies, and the Postgraduate School of Critical Theory and Cultural Studies. The Institute's activities primarily reflect the variety of research emanating from members of the Department of Art History (see Staff and Members), and their links to other institutions, researchers, and research networks. NIRVC's nature is best expressed by reference to the conferences, seminars and symposia that have been and continue to be organised (see Events). Proposals for conferences etc. are welcome, and should be directed to NIRVC's co-ordinator (currently Richard Wrigley).

NIRVC is supported by The University of Nottingham Research Fund & the School of Humanities

Forthcoming conference:

Correspondances: exchanges and tensions between art, theatre and opera in France, c.1750-1850
