Teaching Summary
Lord Dearing award from the University of Nottingham for excellence in teaching 2011.
School lead for non medical prescribing since 2001.
In this role I lead curriculum development and delivery of non medical prescribing courses at degree and masters level. Non medical prescribing is a 6 month course of theory and practice education to prepare nurses, midwives, health visitors and pharmacists as independent and supplementary prescribers and podiatrists, physiotherapists and radiographers as supplementary prescribers. Upon successful completion these groups of healthcare professionals have similar prescribing rights to those of doctors. We have an established team of expert academic and clinical staff teaching on the course and leading research on innovative approaches to prescribing education. Our most recent research explored the use of podcasts and audience response units in prescribing education.
Dissertation lead MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
In this role supervisors are prepared for dissertation and allocated an MSc student. Students receive taught content to help them prepare and plan their dissertation.

The school is currently developing new curriculum for the professional doctorate.
