Biography
I am Jordanian PhD Nursing candidate. I obtained my first degree in general Nursing from Mutah University, Jordan in 2006/2007. Then I worked as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Jordan Hospital for one year and a half. In 2008 I moved to UK to undertake my post graduate studies and I received my MSc degree from the University of Nottingham. My dissertation focused on A Systematic Review of the Effectiveness of Psychosocial Support Group on the Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Women. This topic has encouraged me to carry on and start my PhD in the same University.

Research Summary
Project Title
The role of self-help support group in Jordan following treatment for breast cancer
Project Details
I am undertaking a qualitative approach to explore the experiences of women with breast cancer who decided to take part or not in self-help support group. The project also investigates healthcare professional's perspectives on breast cancer self-help support group and its contribution to recovery. Semi-structured interviews were used with 34 interviewees. It is hoped that the emerging data will provide us with valuable information about how self-help support group could affect recovery and what factors contribute to that. Once women with breast cancer experiences have been explored and the impact of this support group on the recovery has been identified, future strategy can be devised to meet this group of patients' needs of support and empowerment. It is anticipated that the project will be completed in 2013.
