Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
I am a Registered Nurse with clinical experience in orthopaedic/trauma and working with older people. For eighteen months I combined the role of Ward Manager with that of course leader for the ENB941 and 298. I moved into the School of Nursing on a full time basis in 2000 mainly supporting the delivery of the Diploma in Nursing in the Lincoln Centre while maintaining input into Learning Beyond Registration provision relating to older people. In 2001 I started a PhD with the University of Sheffield, investigating care giving relationships of community dwelling older people. I completed this successfully in 2007.
Having been Leader of the Common Foundation Programme in Lincoln Centre for several years, in 2005 I became leader of the Programme across the School. In 2008 I became Deputy Director of the Masters in Nursing Science and in 2009 was appointed to the role of Co-director of the Diploma/BSc in Nursing.

I am contributing to a large NIHR funded study looking at health crises in older people. I am a member of one team looking at the experiences of older people with mental health problems being admitted to adult wards when they have problems of a physical nature and another considering the mediical support offered to older people who are resident in care homes.
My PhD (completed 2007) was a longitudinal study of care giving relationships for community dwelling older people. this was a qulaitative piece of work, based around constructivist principles.
I was project leader for a Higher Education Academy funded mini project looking at the perspectives of older users and carers regarding the content of courses aimed at qualified nurses who work with older people.
