Biography

I have worked as a social policy researcher for over eight years.

My work, which is predominantly qualitative, was initially with local Sure Start programmes with a particular focus on ethnic minority culture and how this affects participation.

In the past five years i have been studying the organisational structure of community, self help and support groups and their contribution to civil society.

Current Research

I am currently working on two projects with local community / self help / support groups; My PhD which focuses on groups' organisational structure and role in civil society. And a funded project developing guidelines for health, social care and community work professionals who are working or intend to work with this type of group.
