Current Research
Paediatric Physiotherapy I am currently undertaking my PhD investigating balance, gait and training effects in children with Cerebral Palsy. This area of research originates from my paediatric physiotherapy clinical practice. I am interested in and enthusiastic to contribute to the evidence base from which clinical reasoning of treatment approaches for children and young adults with disabilities may be enhanced.
I welcome collaboration with any colleagues who might have an interest in service interactions with children, their families and careers.
Hop- On Project I am one of the AMR fund holders for this study investigating activity interventions for premature babies and their parents. More details to be found here; http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/hop-on/index.aspx
Reusable e learning tool.
2008 MMedSci dissertation project developed and implemented a reusable e learning tool for paediatric physiotherapy education. This wireframe is able to be duplicated and now we have 4 case studies running. This work was published 2011.Thie project was presented at the UK CSP conference in 2009, INTED Valencia 2009 and subsequently at the Association for Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists conference September 2012. Both international and national presentations has bought interest in implementing the tool for inter professional learning and work based induction. Currently the NHS Scotland have implemented the tool for IPL and induction over 2010 and 2011. We are currently collaborating in expanding the range of case studies available.
Balance
I am part of a team investigating the kinetics in reaching activities. This project has ethical approval and is in the data collection phase. It is the first investigation of a series planned over the next few years. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
I am supervising undergraduate projects investigating PNF, mainly quantitative in design. However, previously with a qualitative survey of physiotherapists view on their training and implementation of PNF in practice. Some broad themes currently under investigation include balance, contra lateral limb activity and core stability. Poster presented at CSP Congress 2003.

Pedagogy
I am currently part of a team mid way through a project investigating peer coaching in curriculum delivery and the influence of team selection techniques in an anatomy based module. The intervention phase will conclude this year with analysis concluding by the end of the 2006. The assessment aspect of the project was presented at WPT Amsterdam 2011.
