Learning Beyond Registration
The aim of this information resource is to enable you to gain a preliminary knowledge and understanding of the Interprofessional Return to Practice (IRTP) programme and what it means for you. Please read through all of the information and the user guide found.
The IRTP programme has been designed for Nurses, Midwives, Physiotherapists, Dieticians and Operating Department Practitioners wishing to regain their professional registration and thereby return to practice.
Health visitors wishing to return to practice should contact the programme leader before applying. Additionally Health Visitors who are applying for the programme this year will be directed towards the November 2012 programme running in Grantham.
Interprofessional Learning (IPL) is being introduced more and more into our professional programmes to ensure the effective quality team working of the future Health and Social care team.
Individual suitability for this programme is assessed through an application process which includes verification of your original registration with your professional body, an interview with programme leaders, Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Occupational Health clearance. There is a £100 administration charge for CRB and Occupational health services, except for midwives. Two references are requested, one of which should be from your current employer, or last employer. If you have been out of practice for many years, or have not been in employment or education activity, a reference from a professional person is acceptable. Successful completion of this programme (subject to overall approval by your professional body) allows you to regain the qualification you were originally awarded. NB Dieticians and Physiotherapists should seek full information and advice regarding re-registration before applying (See contacts in the user guide below).
