Postgraduate research

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy has a large and vibrant community of doctoral scholars, including many international students from countries all over the world. Applicants can choose from two different doctoral programmes, which can be undertaken part-time (6-8 years) or full-time (3-4 years). These are the:

Doctoral programmes

The doctoral programmes are led by experienced research staff. Students:

are allocated two academic supervisors
undertake high quality Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) accredited research training
are, where possible, linked to existing research programmes and research groups within the School
are encouraged to develop wider research links through conference attendance and participation in subject-specific research networks

Graduate School

The School’s doctoral programmes are delivered in close conjunction with the University’s Graduate School which provides a world-class research training infra-structure.
