Postgraduate research

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy has a large and vibrant community of doctoral scholars, including many international students from countries all over the world. Applicants can choose from two different doctoral programmes, which can be undertaken part-time (6-8 years) or full-time (3-4 years). These are the:

Doctoral programmes

The doctoral programmes are led by experienced research staff. Students:

  • are allocated two academic supervisors
  • undertake high quality Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) accredited research training
  • are, where possible, linked to existing research programmes and research groups within the School
  • are encouraged to develop wider research links through conference attendance and participation in subject-specific research networks

Graduate School

The School’s doctoral programmes are delivered in close conjunction with the University’s Graduate School which provides a world-class research training infra-structure.
