RLO Templates: Production Plan

There are many ways to use RLO templates to create and then deliver learning objects to your students.  You should be aware of issues such as quality control and the need to respect the copyright of any materials that you include.

A recommended course of action is:

  1. Carefully plan the learning activity that you wish to develop, considering the learning goal to be achieved and your intended target group.
  2. Select the template that is appropriate for your use from the list below.
  3. Follow the instructions and help files in order to create your learning object.
  4. Consider how you are going to deliver the learning object.  You may:
    1. Provide a link to the object’s location.
    2. Upload it as a package within webCT (VLE).
    3. Upload it to your personal webspace and link to it from there.
    4. Request that it is added to the School’s RLO list on the SONET site
  5. If Choosing options a-c)  - We would recommend that before delivery you ask a colleague(s) to review the object for you to ensure the quality of the content and the learning experience.  To help you, we have provided peer review forms for some of the templates. If you choose option d) you will need to contact us and we will ensure that independent quality control review(s) are carried out on your behalf.  We will also undertake a technical audit to ensure that the materials you have included comply with copyright regulations.   You will be asked to provide a brief description of the learning object and some key terms to describe it.  The advantage of option d) is that you materials will be made widely available within the school and throughout UK HE.

  6. Consider how you are going to evaluate your materials.  If you choose option 4.d, we will create and attach an online evaluation form to your learning object.  A range of other evaluation tools can be downloaded from the RLO-CETL website.
